Contact: XY Inc. DAKOCYTOMATION, XY INC. SIGN RECORD DEAL WITH
CHINESE DAIRY INDUSTRY DakoCytomation, most widely known for its cancer diagnostics, manufactures cell sorters for use in life sciences research and industry. XY Inc. holds exclusive global rights to intellectual property for sperm sorting by flow cytometry in all non-human mammals, including livestock. The two companies signed a joint deal with GoldCattle Bio. Inc. and China National Animal Breeding Stock Import and Export Corporation. “We are excited for this new opportunity to expand into the agricultural market and bring new technology to China’s fledgling dairy industry,” said Jes Østergaard, President and CEO of DakoCytomation. Under the agreement, DakoCytomation’s MoFlo® High-Speed Cell Sorters will sort X chromosome-bearing sperm from bull semen to produce more female, milk-producing cattle. Also, Mervyn Jacobson, President and CEO of XY Inc., will assist GoldCattle Bio. in improving the genetic quality of the Chinese dairy herd to yield higher per-animal milk production. “Traditionally, dairy breeders want three outcomes from a pregnancy: female calves for herd replacements, increased milk production and trouble-free heifer calvings,” Jacobson said. “Dairy breeders in China will benefit from XY Inc.’s cutting-edge sex-selection technology that allows producers to maintain greater control over these desired breeding and production outcomes.” Currently, the average dairy cow in China — home to a third of the world’s human population — produces 20% of the milk produced by a dairy cow in the United States. On average, people in China consume one-tenth the milk products of someone living in the Western world. ### DakoCytomation A/S, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a leading cancer diagnostics company with a focus on personalized medicine.
