University of Sydney Collaboration

XY Inc. has teamed with the University of Sydney's Centre for Advanced Technologies in Animal Genetics and Reproduction - or ReproGen -- on sheep and equine research. This state-of-the-art facility is the only one in Australia with sperm-sorting capabilities for livestock. Professors Chis Maxwell and Gareth Evans and their team are internationally recognized animal-reproduction physiologists and the world's leading sperm-sorting team for sheep, having produced in 2001 the world's first lambs using sexed ram sperm that had been frozen, then thawed.

In addition, XY researchers, supported by Dr. Lee Morris, internationally acclaimed equine researcher, announced in Feb. 2003 the birth in Australia of "Ballerina" -- the first foal in the world produced using sexed sperm combined with embryo transfer.
