Fort Collins-based XY Inc.'s unique technology enables scientists to predetermine the
sex of cattle, horses, pigs and exotic species.
For its cutting edge development, XY earned an A-plus: The company was one of six winners
announced Thursday at the second annual IQ (Innovation Quotient) awards on Thursday.
The event, held at the University Park Holiday Inn, 425 W. Prospect Road, and organized
by the Northern Colorado Business Report, recognized corporate innovation in six different areas.
XY took honors in the technology/agribusiness category.
"We're very honored," said Jonathon Sanders, XY's chief operating officer, after accepting the
award. "It's a recognition of the innovation that has taken place in Northern Colorado. We're very pleased
to be recognized... but more that that, it's a recognition of all our employees, our innovation, our research all
around the world."
This was XY's first IQ award, but the company also received an award in the United Kingdom for
innovation in science, Sanders said.
